A Note from Rev'd Ben

Dear St. George's,
​

As a child, I was very concerned with fairness. What this really meant is that I wanted to make sure that my sisters weren’t getting a better deal than me, that I was getting my fair share. If you have siblings – or have parented siblings – this might be a familiar concern. But our Gospel reading for this Sunday reminds us that God doesn’t work by making sure that everyone gets theirs, precisely portioning out reward according to merit. And thank God (literally!) for that. For if God did this, we would be in trouble. Instead, God pours out grace and mercy abundantly, without concern for our having deserved it or earned it, simply out of his love for us. What’s more, this generous, abundant love of God sets us free from anxious suspicion that somewhere, someone is getting a better deal than us. Come to church this Sunday to hear more about God’s extravagant love for us, and how we can respond to that love by loving others in return.

Birthday Sunday

Birthday Sundays are back starting this Sunday, September 20th! Join us as we return to beloved event we enjoyed prior to the covid shutdown. Each month, we celebrate parishioners’ birthdays by sharing cake, singing happy birthday, and enjoying fellowship together.
