You're Invited: St Michael's Mission Community BBQ

Hello All,

Happy Fall! I hope you are enjoying this long stretch of sunshine, albeit a little chilly. I am happy to announce we are throwing our annual BBQ again this Friday, October 2nd.

As was the case last year, the food will be prepared outside on the lawn and will be served in the Mission.

You are more welcome to join our community for a friendly meal between 11:00 and 1:00.

If you want to volunteer, the set up will begin as of 9:30 and we plan to finish cleaning up by 2:30. If you have any questions or ideas, my next office hour session is on Wednesday, October 2nd from 2-3pm.

Thank you, as always to the St. George's community for your continued support. The following is our list of needs in preparation for the coming cold season. If you have anything to spare in the coming weeks, we are always very grateful.

  • Warm pants and shirts (especially for men)
  • Boxers
  • Socks
  • Backpacks
  • Jackets and coats
  • Boots

As usual we also are very happy to receive tupperware, yogurt containers, empty pill containers, etc.

Feel free to email me if you have any ideas or questions concerning the St. Michael's Mission community. Emma Campbell: ecampbell@stmichaelsmission.ca

And, as always, you are welcome to drop in and say hello when we are around!

Until next time!

Emma

Weekly Newsletter A Note from Rev'd Heather Dear St George’s, A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came to the Cathedral last Sunday in support of John Graham’s Ordination to the Priesthood. It was a beautiful service and reception - to which our Guild contributed generously. There is a lot of excitement at St George’s this week as the Rev’d Ben Crosby moves forward with his new role at St Simeon’s in Lachute, Ms Kelsey Cunningham joins our team as a Theological Student, and the Rev’d Dr...

Weekly Newsletter A Note from Rev'd John "The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone." One of the most powerful lines in this Sunday’s Gospel. Most people eventually experience rejection: a relationship ends, a career closes, an institution no longer values us, our abilities diminish, or the identity on which we built our lives comes to an end. This Sunday’s reading from Matthew does not tell us that rejection itself is good. It offers something more hopeful: rejection...

Weekly Newsletter Moses, John August Swanson A Note from Rev'd Holly This note falls during the Season of Creation in the Anglican liturgical cycle. Never heard of that? That’s because it is new! It began back in the late 1990s when the Orthodox Church set aside a day of prayer for creation. And over the years, it has been extended into several weeks, starting at the beginning of September, with Rosh Hashana, the Jewish celebration of the creation of the world. It continues through to 4...
