May 9th Cine Club Concert

Cine-Concert: Ben Hur

Coming to St. George’s on Saturday May 9th at 7pm is BEN HUR: A Tale of The Christ from 1926 with six LIVE musicians including an organist.

The biggest-budget epic of the 1920s is also one of the greatest films of the silent era and is still very affecting on audiences today. What’s not to like in this legendary film? There’s a handsome hero who battles the greatest odds, old bitter rivalries, a quest to find lost love, a spectacular sea battle, wild stunts, monumental sets, superb costumes, exotic locales and a cast of literally thousands. And let’s not forget the legendary chariot race that surpasses even that of the 1959 Charlton Heston version in its scope, audacity and thrills. Families are welcome.

Previous Film Society screenings at St. George’s have been hugely popular, so please arrive early whether you buy your tickets in advance or at the door. (General admission. Doors open at 6pm) Snacks and drinks available.

We celebrate this important feast of the church every year - long ago - we celebrated Pentacost for an entire Octave but today it marks the end of the Eastertide and the beginning of the largest season of the year - “Ordinary Time” or as the Godly Play folks affectionately and propetically call it, “The Green...
