A Note from Rev'd Ben

Dear St George’s,

Hello from Prince Edward Island! Sarah and I are having a wonderful time here getting some writing done and exploring another part of Canada. We’ve made the requisite pilgrimage to Green Gables (see the photo above) and have enjoyed lots of walks along the water.

On the traditional Anglican calendar, last Sunday was Rogation Sunday, and Monday through Wednesday of this week were Rogation Days - days traditionally set aside to pray for the upcoming growing season, to ask God for good weather and fruitful harvests so that everyone may have enough to eat. Do any of you have memories of celebrating the Rogation Days? As someone who has only lived in cities and towns, it was really interesting to experience Rogation Sunday in a more rural setting, where people are a little closer to the land and its seasons. It was a good reminder that the food we take for granted in our grocery stores depends on farmers and farmworkers, the earth, and ultimately on God’s provision. May God bless the fruit of the soil, this year and always!

Yours in Christ,

Ben

Weekly Newsletter May 26th, 2026 A Note from Rev'd Holly Dear St George’s, How do you experience the world of creation? And more particularly, in this time of anxiety and fear and grief concerning the future of our planet in the face of climate change, what are your parables of contemplation of creation? In a two-part webinar I watched recently, a Canadian Jesuit named John McCarthy asks these questions. He is a boreal forest and lichen scientist, from Newfoundland. And he is also a man of...

Weekly Newsletter May 22nd, 2026 Descent of the Holy Spirit, Date:1153, Artist: Anonymous A Note from Rev'd Heather Dear St George’s, On Sunday we will celebrate Pentecost together. We celebrate this important feast of the church every year - long ago - we celebrated Pentacost for an entire Octave but today it marks the end of the Eastertide and the beginning of the largest season of the year - “Ordinary Time” or as the Godly Play folks affectionately and propetically call it, “The Green...
